At Spine, we take your privacy seriously. This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our website, join the waitlist, or use our mobile app.

a) When you use our website

• Name and email address when you join the waitlist or subscribe for updates.
• Anonymous analytics data collected through Plausible Analytics, a privacy-friendly tool that uses no cookies and tracks no personal data.

b) When you use the Spine app

• Account details: name, email address, and password (securely hashed and never stored in plain text).
• Profile data: profile picture, reading preferences, and selected genres.
• Book data: books you add, your reading progress and status, and your wishlist/library.
• App usage data: timestamps, device type, app version, and anonymised crash or error reports.

All app data is securely stored and managed through Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore), services provided by Google.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data only for purposes that help provide and improve our services:

• To create, authenticate, and maintain your Spine account.
• To allow you to add books, track reading progress, update preferences, and sync across devices.
• To personalise your experience based on your reading habits.
• To fix bugs, analyse usage, and improve app performance.
• To contact you (if you opted in) about app news, new features, or updates.

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data.

We may share limited data with trusted service providers who help us operate the website and app:

• Firebase (Google LLC) – authentication, database, and file storage.
• MailerLite – for managing email updates and waitlist communications.
• Plausible Analytics – for privacy-focused website analytics.

These providers only process your data as needed to perform their function and are contractually required to protect it.

4. Data Security

• All connections use SSL/TLS encryption.
• Passwords are securely hashed and never stored in plain text.
• Data in Firebase is encrypted both in transit and at rest.
• We regularly review security practices to prevent unauthorised access or data loss.

5. Your Rights

• Access, update, or delete your profile and reading data within the app.
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails at any time via the link in our messages.
• Request complete data deletion by emailing hello@get-spine.app.

6. Children’s Privacy

Spine is intended for users aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware of such data, we will delete it immediately.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time to reflect new features or legal requirements. The “Last updated” date below will always show the most recent revision.
